I'm Cameron - In February 2022 I created Erie Knife Company, a one-man operation based out of my home shop in Northeastern Ohio. I focus on creating high quality, tailor-made custom knives and cutting tools.
Whether you're a chef, outdoorsman (or outdoorswoman), collector, or just someone who values quality tools, I try to make something for everyone. I do my own heat treatment in house, and make each knife with a ton of care and attention to detail.
A little bit about me
I'm 35 years old, a single dad of two great kids, and a pretty ordinary guy. I started hunting and fishing at an early age, and ever since I've had a passion for the outdoors - as well as the tools and gear that go hand in hand with it. I definitely have an appreciation for quality - "Made in the USA".
I learned how to sharpen and became obsessed with sharpening knives as a hobby. I then found myself immersed in the world of high-end knife collecting. I started modifying my knives, and knew at that point that I was probably going to end up making knives.
I made my first dozen or so knives with just files, a hacksaw, and sandpaper. When it came to heat treatment, I used a pair of MAP gas torches as a heat source, and quenched in canola oil. For simple carbon steel, that will get the job done! After saving up for a while I upgraded my workshop, got a decent 2 x 72 belt grinder, and the rest is history!
